X. DEGREE.

JEAN the Seneschal of Kercado, Lord of Kercado, of Bot-Saint-Caradec, of Brohais etc. for contemporaries of whom we find in the Roles reported by Father Dom Lobineau, not only Guyon, Jacob & Yvon or Yves the Seneschal, but moreover:
1° a JEHAN the Seneschal qualified Sir du Val in a Mandement that the Duke François II gave in August 1487 to have his property seized with those of several other gentlemen of name, because they had not obeyed the order to come and serve in his Army;
2° another JEHAN the Seneschal named among the first Warriors of the Company of Sire of the Feillée who received in Rennes on the penultimate day of September of the same year 1487, his Lieutenant Nobles Homs Messire Giles of COETLOGON, Lord of Godinaye; And
3° finally OLIVIER the Seneschal that an account of the Treasurer

General started on April 14, 1488, and ended in December 149I, time of the marriage of the Duchess Anne with King Charles VIII placed in the rank of the Pensioners of the Province immediately after a Jean of MALESTROIT, Jaques of BEA UMANOIR, Sir du Bois - of the Motte, Jean du PARC, Sir of Locmaria, Messire Amauri of the MOUSSAIE, & a REGNÉ Seneschal.

It appears that on the death of Guillaume the Seneschal, Jean the Seneschal his son had been placed in the Noble custody of Yoland of Rohan his mother, who is named for him in this capacity in a Sentence rendered in the General Pleas of Pontivy on 11, October 1473, In February 1477, she obtained under the same Title in the Chancellery of Brittany a safeguard in which the mother and the son are also included; And on July 18 of the following year the People of the Accounts of the Duke who then had their meeting in Vannes gave him an act, by which they recognized that at the Reformation made in "the Parish of Noyal in the month of May 1427, the Métayers & Métairies of Even the Seneschal (great-grandfather of Jean the Seneschal) had been declared not to be subjects not to the charge of the Parish not of the Parishioners thereof, thus extracted & put out, being scripted in the Rang & Assiepte of Métayers & Métairies Nobles."

Jean the Seneschal did not enjoy the sweetness of his marriage for long, as can be seen from a Sentence rendered to the Generals Plaids of Pontivy on September 19, 1497, concerning the tutelage of two sons he left. For Simonne d'Avaugour, besides the fact that by this act she was created tutor of her children under the authority of her father Nobles Homs Louis d'Avaugour, we know that she survived her husband a lot. She even took a second alliance with René du BOIS-BOISSEL (or according to the old spelling of BOIS-BOUEXEL) Lord of Lauber & of Kergaraud from whom she had no children; And that it was on October 10, 1531, that she made a will in which she declared that she wanted to be buried in the Convent of Mister Saint François in Pontivy in the Chapel of Kercado & in the Enfeu (or Cellar) of Yolante of Rohan, in her time Dame of Kercado & of Brohais etc. "The two sons, left over from his marriage to Jean the Seneschal, were JEAN & GUILLAUME the Seneschal-of Kercado.

JEAN the Seneschal recognized as principal heir & Noble of his father, & by the act of October 5, 1495, & by a declaration that his mother made on May 22, 1506, of several lands and inheritances which he held under the Lords of Châtel - Audren & of Lanvollan, of the chief of Yoland of Rohan his ancestor, was provided on September 25, 1520, with a Charge of Ordinary Gentleman of the Hôtel du Roi François I. And having followed this Prince in Italy, was, according to the Historians of Brittany (c), one of the Lords of the Province who distinguished themselves in the wars of the time. We even learn from a domestic memoir that he was killed on February 24, 1524. (old style) at the Battle of Pavia, that fatal battle where the greatest Lords of the Kingdom remained in the square; But whatever the case, as he left no posterity, and even that he had not yet been married, all the goods of the House passed to his brother.
