Germany attempted to take over the Soviet Union, but failed. Germany targeted Russian city, Stalingrad, an industrial center, unexpectedly. The Soviet Union was able to pull through and defend their city, and push out the Axis Powers. This battle was known as one of the bloodiest throughout World War II
