"Benito Amilcare Andrea Mussolini was an Italian politician and journalist who was the leader of the National Fascist Party" in Italy. Mussolini formed his political party on the 23rd of March 1919. He became prime minister in 1922 and fell from power around June/July 1943-1945.

CAUSES & EFFECTS
CAUSE 1- Around 1921 the Italian King, Victor Emmanuel III dissolved parliament due to a growth in violence and chaos.
CAUSE 2- October 1922 saw Mussolini threaten to march on Rome and take the government if it was not handed over to him. The king did little and Mussolini gained some of the government so the king handed it over.

EFFECT 1- A partnership with Nazi Germany and Hitler which ultimately led to his death.
EFFECT 2- Mussolini reclaimed the Pontine Marshes as land for Rome (Italy). This land was used for the creation of railroads, bridegs and schools amongst other things and was veiwed as a solution to unemployment.
