February 1945: Allied leaders met at Yalta to discuss what would happen after Germany had been defeated. Roosevelt (USA), Churchill (Britain) and Stalin (USSR) agreed:
1. Set up a United Nations Organisation
2. Divide Germany into 4 zones that would be occupied by Britain, USSR, France, USA
3. Free elections would be held in all countries liberated from German/Nazi control
