The Digital Revolution (11 gen 1940 anni – 11 gen 1949 anni)
Descrizione:
- After World War II, computers changed from analog to digital. In other words, the mechanical parts that once made up older computers were now about to be replaced by the electrical parts we see today.
- Electronic circuits, relays, capacitors, and vacuum tubes replaced mechanical gears and analog calculations. What did this mean? Also immediately, computers were 1000 times faster than before, and, they were only going to get faster.
- They weren't perfect, however. They used punched cards and relied on vacuum tubes. They had no GUI and few people even knew how to use one. However, arguably, these first digital computers were the direct ancestors of today's computers.
