Mesopotamia was the first known society for their engineering advancements. It is said that this ancient society was the first to invent the wheel. These peoples were also known for their canals, temples, and astronomy. These astrolabes were used to solve navigational problems. The Mesopotamian were also exceptional at using and building canals. The Nahrwan canal was used to control freshwater and was also used as public water. Another important aspect of Mesopotamia was the use of The Code of Hammurabi. This was one of the first instances of the use of a justice system with set laws.
