Called “Pictor” because his grandfather Gaius Fabius Pictor painted a temple in 302 BC; a senator; sent as an embassy in 216 BC to consult the Delphic oracle about the Roman defeat at Cannae; possibly a member of the decemviri sacris faciundis
Wrote the first Latin history. The history was written in Greek, and its subject was the First and Second Punic Wars
