The Ummayad Caliphate was the first Islamic Caliphate. It was not as well run as the Abbasid Dynasty with the way it handled Religion. They applied a Jizya Tax, even on those who converted to Islam. They only let Persians into their government, which led to much distrust in the people. Key concept 3.2
