Hundred Years' War (1 gen 1337 anni – 1 gen 1453 anni)
Descrizione:
After the death of the French king Philip IV the Fair and his sons, there was no male successor to take over the throne. This sparked a conflict between the supporters of Philip IV's brother, who eventually became the king, and Edward III of England, a descendant of Philip IV's daughter.
The conflict served as a pretext to attack France, since it's growing power wasn't in the interest of England. English knights were also counting on spoils.
The war was long and bloody. Having depleted the royal treasury, it sparked internal fighting and social unrest, only exacerbated by the plague pandemic.
