Birmingham Protests and Bull Connor (3 apr 1963 anni – 10 magg 1963 anni)
Descrizione:
These protests were held in Birmingham and involved sit ins, boycotts, and protests in the pursuit of the desegregation of the city. The NAACP and the civil rights movement used peaceful forms of protest and civil disobedience in order to provoke a reaction which would grant them sympathy from the public. They were successful as the Commissioner of Public Safety, Bull Connor employed excessively violent responses which made the segregationists look bad. This occurred in Birmingham Alabama. The primary cause was the lack of desegregation in the city. The result was that city was eventually desegregated although there was severe bombings in retaliation.
