The aim of this act was to provide maintenance, education and custody for the children of Aborigines. and to overall protect them from fraud, imposition and injustice.The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people were not able to vote until this act. It allowed them to participate in voting and elections just like everybody else.Aboriginal people were legally stolen from their families into white foster families because the government decided that that's the best for themdue to the removal of children, it caused a loss of family ties, culture and language.The national aboriginal day of mourning was a protest against discriminatory treatment and assimilation policies against indigenous Australians by the Australian government.After world war ii, many missions and reserves were disabled, forcing indigenous people to relocate to cities where they faced discrimination against them just because they were indigenous Australians.The federal council for aboriginal advancement served the purpose to advocate for indigenous rights and to end the discrimination against indigenous Australians.the first federal electoral act, when the last state changed it's law, tens of thousands Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people were prohibited from participating in any elections.The referendum allowed Indigenous Australians to be included in the national census, ensuring that they were counted as a part of Australia's popukation.The racial discrimination act made it illegal to discriminate people due to their skin colour.
