William Golding is Born in Saint Columb Minor, Cornwall, England.
William started teaching English and philosophy at the Bishop Wordsworth’s School in Salisbury. (age 24)
He stopped teaching to join the Royal Navy. {Middle of World War II} (age 29) His role was to fight battleships at the sinking of the Bismarck, and fended off submarines and planes. He was ranked as Lieutenant and was even placed in command of a rocket-launching craft.
His first novel, Lord of the Flies, was offically published.
He was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature. (He was 72 years old)
William died today in Perranarworthal, Cornwall, England.
William went on to attend Brasenose College at Oxford University
