Fort Sumter The first fight took place at the Fort Sumter. Lincoln avoided the threats in the South. The fight started out with the South saying we want slavery.
Emancipation Proclamation The Proclamation promised to free all slaves to be free. Soon slaves were given their freedom in 1863. Lincoln did not want slavery to exsist.
Battle of Gettysburg The union wanted to make everything peace and attacking camps. The South thought it was possible to go forward. Lee had to retreat because he was out of men.
Vicksburg It was a river port and turned into a cemetery. It had quarters to protect the river from people. The minister wanted to rebuild it because it was old and run down.
Gettysburg Address It became a national cemetery after the war. When the war was going on slave owners bordered their slaves. After the war Lincoln gave his speech to the people.
Appomattox Courthouse We needed more Union troops in the war. The courthouse was taken in Washington D.C. The location made a historical monument.
Lincoln's Assassination After the Confederate war, Lincoln wanted to celebrate. Lincoln was shot and killed by John Wilkes Booth. The people honored and respected Lincoln of what he did.
