Birth of Harriet Tubman (Araminta Ross)
Harriet was a slave herself in Maryland for Philadelphia who then escaped becoming an American abolitionist. She escaped from slavery, along with her brother.
Conductor on the Underground Railroad. She helped her family and hundreds of other families who were slaves escape to freedom through an Underground Railroad. Over a decade, she took 19 trips back to the south leading and guiding family and friends away from slavery.
Travels back to railroads to retrieve her husband. Although he did not want to leave.
Reroutes the Underground Railroad to travels to Canada with 11 fugitive slaves.
Harriet returns again to saves her brother, Moses from slavery.
Harriet worked with the Union Army in the Civil war. She worked as a nurse, cook and anything the army needed her to be.
A biography of Harriet's life was published by Sarah Bradford.
Harriet Tubman supports women's rights by joining the woman suffrage giving speeches in Boston.
