The fighting is fierce but the U.S. finally takes it out of Japanese control.Ned participates in the Battle of Iwo Jima. As the United States closes in on Japan, the fighting gets more and more intense, and this battle is no exception.The final and most brutal battle takes place on the island of Okinawa. The battle resulted in the loss of over 100,000 Japanese soldiers and 7,800 American soldiers.Americans use a neucular bomb on the city of Hiroshima.Japan surrenders, bringing the war to an end.
