Beginning of Middle Adulthood around this periodSocio-Emotional
Married for over 3 years now and I have 2 children,
one son and a younger daughter. While I am
normally happy, it is impossible to overlook
some of the sleepless nights of accompanying
the baby. Normally, there is a period of "crisis"
or reorganization that affects relationships, money
and also social life.
I consider it more or a reorganization than a
crisis.Socio-Emotional
After having a few years of me being the primary
income for the household, the kids are old enough
to go to elementary school and they go to
after school care. The wife decides to
go back to the workforce after being a full time
mother for the past couple of years. Things
have began to settle down and the extra income
the wife makes allows for financial flexibility and
we go arrange on some family vacation.Physical Development
As unfortunate as this may be, middle adulthood
leads to a physical decline in health. To combat
the effects of Father Time, I go swimming two days
a week with a membership at planet fitness. Planet
Fitness does not discriminate and I feel comfortable
doing my workouts in the gym. I endeavor to
keep my body in top condition and staying active
helps greatly.Physical Development
Outward appearance takes a toll
Skin is no longer as sturdy as it once was.
Muscle mass begins to thin and height is unfortunately
decreased. This is a result from the compression
of the spine. It seems like left and right, my body
goes through difficulties, but it I know it will
be worse later in life. I do my best to keep it
decent at best.Non-Normative
The hair.
Instead of hair falling off and growing thin, my
hard stays beautiful and luscious, just the way
it should be. I am unaffected by the normal
decline of hair strength and I am quite content
with what I got going for me.Cognitive Development
My intelligence turns out to remain the same.
Many believe the myth that intelligence dwindles
in the middle adulthood but this is just not true.
I read books to keep my mind sharp and it helps
me be an important chairman position in the
Fortune 500 company I work for. I value intelligence
above all else and I do my best to stop any loss
of it.Cognitive Development
Variations of Intelligence
I practice my crystallized intelligence by doing a
ridiculous number of readings and trivia. I decide
to go on Jeopardy to win the top prize but I choke
under pressure. I can't believe how bad I choked and
I take home the infamous second place. I don't
get any prize money and I now know a whole
bunch of unnecessary and useless facts.
