1 gen 1765 anni - The Sugar Act

Descrizione:

After staggering financial difficulties from the Seven Year's War, British parliament passed legislation to levy taxes on the American colonies. However, colonists resented the imposition of taxes on sugar and molasses, publications and legal documents, various imported islands, and the Quartering Act in which they had to open their homes to British soldiers. They responded to these taxes with the slogan "No taxation without representation" and argued that Parliament was violating their personal rights by imposing taxes on them despite colonists having no voice in British parliament. Colonists boycotted British goods and even mounted protests such as the Boston Tea Party.
