Un frère de ʿAlī b. Ghāniya, nommé Ghāzī, captura Ashīr et tua le commandant almohade local. Abū Zayd envoya une armée depuis Bijāya sous la direction de son fils, Abū Ḥafṣ ʿUmar, ainsi qu’un autre commandant nommé Abū al-Ẓafar b. Mardanīsh. Ils vainquirent Ghāzī et ses partisans dans les montagnes aux abords d’Ashīr et renvoyèrent la tête de Ghāzī à Bijāya. Le frère de Ghāzī, ʿAbdallāh, continua de résister jusqu’à ce qu’il soit capturé et exécuté par les Almohades.
