Edward, an old and wise engine, gets let out to pull passenger trains on the loop line, to the frustration of the other engine who see him as a relic of the past. He then proves his worth by helping push Gordon, the newest express engine (after Henry), up a large hill, which they rename to 'Gordon's Hill'.
