The plan was failed due to Simeon realize Romans' attempt, however, though retreat Romanos II still claim the battle as a success, as the Bulgars lost five thousand while Romans only three thousand. Romanos II had prepared once again to take the fight to Simeon, but this time, six thousand Romans were lost, Romanos II have no choice but back to small confilct to weaken them.
