Also known as the "Scientology Murders," as Gaul (19yo) & Sharp (15yo) were both involved in Scientology

- Doreen = from Albany, NY
- James = from Crestwood, MO (a suburb of St Louis)

- explain how each of them separately got to that place/point, their relationship w/ Scientology, etc


- Gaul = living at a commune at 1032 S Bonnie Brae Ave
- Sharp = living at a commune at 921 S Bonnie Brae Ave

- then explain the murders themselves


- Gaul was found nude, while Sharp was wearing "hippie clothing": a corduroy jacket, a striped t-shirt, and black Levis
- Gaul was only wearing "a thin string of multicolored Indian beads"
- no signs of Gaul having been sexually molested

- shortly after midnight on 11/22, they were both found dead in an alleyway between Arapahoe St & Magnolia Ave, just south of 11th St (and/or found behind 1138 Magnolia Blvd) in LA
- both were stabbed 50-60 times (total overkill), including Gaul being slashed across the face
- both were beaten as well
- they had been killed elsewhere, then dumped in the alley
- were discovered by a man who lives "in the mostly residential neighborhood"



- explain the note, connecting it to Zodiac

- generally attributed to Scientologists (though not prosecuted, and they always denied it); possible Manson Family murder; may have been Zodiac



- seems to still be unsolved
- in Manson Wikipedia as suspected further crime
