The General Assembly

Considering the Commissioner-General's report on the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East for 1 July 1969 to 30 June 1970:

Concerned about the Agency’s severe financial situation and its implications for future operations:

Establishes a Working Group on the Financing of the Agency, consisting of nine Member States, to review all financial aspects of the Agency;

Requests the President of the General Assembly, with the Secretary-General, to appoint the Working Group members;

Asks the Working Group, in consultation with the Secretary-General and the Commissioner-General, to submit an interim report by 14 December 1970, with recommendations to avoid service reductions in 1971;

Requests the Working Group to assist in addressing the financial crisis between the twenty-fifth and twenty-sixth sessions of the General Assembly;

Requests the Working Group, with relevant consultations, to present a comprehensive financial report to the General Assembly at its twenty-sixth session.

Composition of the Working Group: France, Ghana, Japan, Lebanon, Norway, Trinidad and Tobago, Turkey, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
