The General Assembly
Expressing deep concern over the worsening situation in the Middle East and reaffirming that territorial acquisition by force is unacceptable:
Reaffirms that territories acquired by force must be returned;
Asserts that a just and lasting peace in the Middle East requires:
Withdrawal of Israeli forces from occupied territories,
Recognition of sovereignty, territorial integrity, and political independence of all states in the area, and their right to live in peace within secure boundaries;
Recognizes that Palestinian rights are crucial for establishing a lasting peace in the Middle East;
Urges prompt implementation of Security Council Resolution 242 (1967) for a peaceful settlement;
Calls on parties to engage with the Special Representative of the Secretary-General to facilitate the implementation of Resolution 242;
Recommends extending the cease-fire for three months to allow negotiations under the Special Representative’s auspices;
Requests the Secretary-General to report to the Security Council and General Assembly on the progress of these efforts;
Requests the Security Council to consider measures to ensure the resolution's implementation if necessary.
