Recalling resolutions 194 (III) of 11 December 1948, 302 (IV) of 8 December 1949, 393 (V) of 2 December 1950, and 513 (VI) of 26 January 1952,
Having examined the report of the Director of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees and the joint report of the Director and the Advisory Commission of the Agency,
Noting negotiations between the Agency and governments of Near Eastern countries under resolution 513 (VI),
Mindful of the goals set for reducing relief expenditure in the $250 million three-year relief and reintegration programme approved in resolution 513 (VI), without prejudice to resolution 194 (III) or resolution 393 (V) regarding reintegration by repatriation or resettlement,
Recognizing the immediate challenges in achieving these goals and the need for increased relief expenditures, resulting in reduced reintegration funds,
Authorizes the United Nations Relief and Works Agency to increase the relief budget to $23 million for the fiscal year ending 30 June 1953, with further adjustments as necessary for maintaining adequate standards. A budget of $18 million for relief for the fiscal year ending 30 June 1954 is adopted, subject to review at the eighth session of the General Assembly;
Authorizes the Agency to allocate remaining reintegration funds according to appropriate time schedules until 30 June 1954;
Requests negotiations for contributions to the programme to be conducted with member and non-member States by the Negotiating Committee for Extra-Budgetary Funds.
