At about 5pm on Saturday, May 7, 1977 Penny Jean Parker, 15, went out to collect money for her newspaper route near El Camino and Grove Ave in North Sacramento. She disappeared near East Levee Rd in Sacramento.

Three days later, Penny's body was found face-down in what used to be a cow pasture and is now Hansen Ranch Park. She had been raped, strangled, and stabbed.

Don Jennings was the primary suspect, and in 2015 his DNA matched with the semen found on Parker's body.
