22yo; last seen on Northgate Boulevard, hitchhiking, on the afternoon before her body was discovered

July 31: body discovered by three boys, near East Levee Rd in Sacramento, 0.5mi north of Del Paso Rd and 0.6mi southwest of where Carol Hilburn was found; found near Dry Creek, 0.5mi north of Main Ave

She had been buried alive in sand; died from asphixiation due to inhalation of sand. She had been knocked or choked into unconsciousness or semiconsciousness but was alive when buried; it's possible whoever killed her transported her to that location and buried her, believing she was already dead

She had been dead from 3-10 days when found. She was found wearing only a blouse, pulled toward her neck, and a size 8 blue canvas tennis shoe on her left foot. The right tennis shoe was buried in the sand between her knees. Also buried with her was a pair of well-worn Lee brand cutoff jeans. Only injury found in an autopsy was a dislocated jaw.

Her mother had last heard from her 7 weeks prior; Lynch had been visiting friends in Northern CA. She'd been living in Nevada City, northwest of Sacramento, but had gone to Santa Cruz to see friends some time in July, and on July 28 began hitchhiking back to Nevada City

From early on, the murders of Lynch, Hakari, Bennallack, & Hilburn have been suspected to be tied to each other
