Bloodstone and the elderly Essex discover the overgrown remains of the ancient city of the gods, exactly as the city that Bloodstone new millennia earlier. There they discover Eternals awaiting to be awoken, who remove the bloodstone from Ulysses and show Essex how their machines work. Essex then kills Bloodstone and the Eternals and remakes himself younger and stronger, and sets about mastering this technology.
