After the fall of the Caliph from power, with the death of Abbas I, and subsequent exile of the Shahan family from the Jharad desert, the remaining Alamajara were few. One such survivor of the Alamajara Rebellion, and the Second Jharad war was Abu Ahmad al-Muhammad. Abu had been living in the city of Abydos preceding the collapse of the Caliphate, involved in the Rivet Massacre, Abu was one of the most radical members of the Alamajara. He would be granted control of the desert between Holy Trillium and the Gilded Coast (Mesa). He would then begin building massive defensive works, including sky scraping towers of randomly assembled materials around Abydos.
