30 ottob 1990 anni - Native American Languages Act (NALA)
Descrizione:
The Native American Languages Act repealed multiple previous, older laws and encouraged the use, teaching, and development of Native American languages. The law also "states that it is U.S. policy to... encourage and support the use of such languages as a medium of educational instruction." This helped create a new, more accepting tide of the Native cultures that persist, and it created funding and program opportunities for preserving native culture.
Many prior U.S. laws and actions were designed to do the opposite of this, so many activists and community organizers were glad to see this initiative being adopted. It was one of the first modern re-affirmations of Native American rights and encouragements of Native culture.
