21 ottob 1948 anni - Fall of Bayt Nattif and Zakariyya
Descrizione:
On October 21, Moshe ("Morris") Ben-Dror, the commander of the Fifth Battalion, organized a battle group with two rifle companies, support units, and saboteurs. Their mission was to capture Bayt Nattif and demolish the houses due to the town's previous resistance against Israeli forces. Many inhabitants had fled to nearby Umm al-Ra'us and were barred from returning.
That night, the battalion also raided Zakariyya, facilitating the opening of the road to al-Khader (modern regional highway 375). While many Zakariyya villagers initially fled to the hills, they later returned and were permitted to stay until their eventual resettlement in 1950, with some moving to Ramlah and others to Jordan.
