Operation Hiram was a 60-hour military campaign from October 29-31, 1948, led by General Moshe Carmel. The goal was to capture the Upper Galilee from Arab Liberation Army (ALA) forces and a Syrian battalion, securing the region originally designated for an Arab state in the UN partition plan. The operation resulted in the control of the area by Israel and the displacement of over 50,000 Palestinian refugees.

Massacres and Expulsions:
The operation involved significant violence, including massacres, contributing to the mass exodus of Arab villagers. It ended just before a ceasefire with neighboring Arab countries was enacted.

Captured Villages:
Several villages were captured during Operation Hiram, many of which saw their populations expelled and buildings destroyed:

Tarshiha (Population: 3,840) - Bombardment led to mass flight.
Safsaf (Population: 910) - Scene of a massacre, village depopulated.
Jish (Population: 1,090) - Heavy casualties among defenders; the village was depopulated.
Sasa (Population: 1,130) - Captured and depopulated.
Iqrit and Kafr Bir'im - Both villages were depopulated.
Hula - Site of a massacre in Lebanon.
These actions were part of broader tactics to secure Israeli control over the region, involving the displacement of local Arab populations and the destruction of villages. The operation extended to the Litani River in Lebanon but did not proceed to Beirut due to international concerns.
