1 gen 1930 anni - The founding the Black Hand
Descrizione:
The Black Hand was an anti-Zionist and anti-British jihadist militant organization that operated in Mandatory Palestine. It was founded in 1930 by Sheikh Izz ad-Din al-Qassam, who led the group until his death in 1935. The organization emerged after the 1929 Palestine riots, though its formation was influenced by earlier events such as the Day of Atonement incident at the Wailing Wall in 1928. The Black Hand carried out attacks against Jewish settlers and British targets, justifying its actions on religious grounds. It had several hundred members organized in small cells and was involved in military training for peasants, equipping them with bombs and firearms. Al-Qassam's death in a gunbattle with British police in 1935 marked a significant blow to the organization, though some members continued to participate in the 1936–1939 Arab revolt in Palestine. The group's legacy influenced later Arab militants, including the naming of the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, established in 1992.
