After taking Damascus, one Aleppan chronicler wrote "from this point forward, Nur al-din dedicated himself to Jihad".

However Nur al-din went on to sign a "terms of truce" with Jerusalem.

This truce was renewed for another year as Nur al-din took land in the North after the Seljuk Sultan of Anatolia died.
