13 gen 1956 anni - The soviets showed the world their new TU95
Descrizione:
The soviets showed the world their new TU95 long range jet bombers at a Moscow air show. All ten flew over. To create the impression that there were twenty, they flew over twice. They could reach the USA and drop nuclear bombs. America had not known this in advance and was caught off guard. Eisenhower responded by doubling the rate of production of the new B-52 bomber. (The USA had had long range bombers since 1945 that could fly 6000 miles to the USSR).
America remained well ahead in numbers of nuclear bombs and bombers until 1957.
