隋唐時期(公元589—618年)稱台灣為“流求”。隋王朝曾三次出師台灣。據史籍記載，610年(隋大業六年)漢族人民開始移居澎湖地區。到宋元時期(公元960一1368年)，漢族人民在澎湖地區已有相當數量。
