Canadian forces fought for the town of Ortana, and it was one of the toughest battles for the Canadian troops. The Canadian soldiers eventually won Ortana for the Allies but at a high price. A couple of thousand Canadian troops died in the process.The picture is what the streets of Ortana looked like after the battle.
