27 ottob 1986 anni - The Big Bang

Descrizione:

'The Big Bang' deregulated the London Stock Exchange bringing with it a lot of changes.
The previous class divided in being involved in stocks was removed and even foreign companies could be involved in London's Stock Exchange. Some Foreign companies involved themselves in London's Stock Exchange over their own countries
The distinction between stockbroker and jocker vanished.

There was also technological advancements. Instead of shouting across rooms, stock trading happened on computers. This easier, high reward system made London's Stock Exchange attractive to up incoming stockbrokers.

The term "yuppie" was coined for the young professionals in the stock market who had an excess of revenue to buy on consumer goods.

London became one of the financial capitals of the world, competing with Wall Street.
The economy did grow, but productivity didn't. The GDP growth was 2.2% in the 1980s which was no better than what is was in the 1970s. This was due to the underperformance in the beginning of the decade (GDP was -4%).
