1 gen 379 anni - Cappadocian Fathers

Descrizione:

Basil of Caesarea (CE 330-379, Gregory of Nyssa (CE 335-394), and Gregory of Nazianzus (CE 329-390) all lived in the Cappadocian desert and are known as the Cappadocian fathers. After the Council of Nicea (CE 325) questions arose about homoousios and the relationship of the Holy Spirit to the Father and Son. The term "homoian" (of like nature) arose as an alternative to the claims of Nicea and it was the Cappadocian fathers (particularly Gregory of Nazianzus) who took responsibility for re-asserting homoousios. They proposed that not only are the Son and Father of the same substance, but the Holy Spirit is also worthy of worship with the Father and Son. This conclusion is represented formally in the Niceo Constantinopolitan Creed, which came out of the Council of Constantinople I in CE 381.
-It should also be noted that Basil was the creator of the first hospital and contributed in many ways to ideas of Christian charity.
