Due to Napoleon's unhappiness with his situation on Elba and the murmurs of political unrest in France, he made an escape from Elba less than a year into his time there. He took advantage of the dislike of the new monarch, Louis XVIII to try and take back over in France. He returned to France and marched on Paris with a small group of his followers. Napoleon garnered some support and raised a small army. However, the Quadruple Alliance was dedicated to crushing him again, and they defeated him at the Battle of Waterloo. Napoleon was then imprisoned on the island of St. Helena, defeated for the final time.
