17 dic 1969 anni - Keef Hartley Band

Descrizione:

The Toby Jug, Tolworth, London

Keef played on the closing night of the Toby Jug Blues Club. By Christmas 1969, following the release of the debut album Halfbreed, Hartley's band was demanding .
anything up to £1,000 in appearance fees at colleges... although nothing remotely approaching that at the Toby. One concert booker remembers recoiling from Hartley's performance fee demand at around this time, and instead booking a little-known group who were prepared to play for £50 - Status Quo. Hartley had already played with John Mayall on the albums The Blues Alone and Crusade (both 1967), and the drummers he most admired included Tony Meehan, Sandy Nelson, Buddy Rich and Slip Moore. Gary Brewer recalled: "When a song finished, Keef would get up in his full Red Indian kit and say something like: 'I'd like to feature Henry Lowther on trumpet - can we hear it for Henry?"' A carpenter by trade, Keef also ran a woodwork business under Kew Bridge.
