Descrizione:
A French philosopher, mathematician, and scientist who is referred as "father of modern philosophy". His idea of "dualism" which described a separation between the mind (or soul) and the body, had implications for the study of consciousness and mental processes in psychology. With his ficus on morality, believed that reason was the most reliable guide to moral truth. and that humans have clear and distinct ideas, which were the basis for certain knowledge. This emphasis on reason as the foundation for knowledge had implications for ethical decision-making in psychology. Descartes was motivated by moral concern and strived to establish the behavioural science of man (Leary,1980 ; Hatfield, 2017).
