This Counterparty Improvement Proposal established a protocol for issuing subassets.

This enabled named asset owners the ability and flexibility to issue new easily identified and related named assets:

(ex: Asset = BACON, Subasset = BACON.crispy).

While named assets using Counterparty are limited to 4-12 capital letters, Subassets have a broader range of possibility because they can be 1-250 upper or lowercase letters.

Subassets are a very popular asset class within the community and used for various artistic, physical, propietary and functional uses.
