Protects certain applicants and employees 40 years of age or older, from discrimination on the basis of age in hiring, promotion, discharge, compensation, or terms, conditions or privileges of employment. Companies must have at least 20 employees to be subject to this law.
Signed into law by Lyndon Johnson. Didn't protect employees under the age of 40. Was part of the 'Great Society' legislation.
