16 dic 1773 anni - Boston Tea
Party! ☕
Descrizione:
On Dec.17, members of the patriot group Sons of Liberty (some prominent members include Sam Adams, John Adams, Paul Revere, and John Hancock) dumped a huge amount of British East India Company tea from three ships into the Boston Harbor as protest against the tax on tea and the Tea Act. It was well organized, and no property damaged occurred besides the tea and a padlock, according to the History Channel. Those involved were very secretive about it due to concerns over being arrested or condemned for property damage or the rebellious behavior, and only one was ever arrested.
The Tea Party had a mostly positive feedback from the other colonists. It inspired several smaller copycat protests through the colonies and .
Parliament had a completely different reaction. The amount of tea (at least a million dollars worth) had been destroyed, their attempt to assist the British East India Company was a failure, and the colonists continued to resist British control and taxes.
