The Spanish Civil War can be seen as a practice run for the Germans to use in WW2. This being the use of combined warfare and blitzkrieg. The war showed that the fascist nations of Europe were far more equipped to fight a war than the democratic powers. This was especially prevalent with the fact that both the Italians and Germans sent men, equipment, and air support to Francos rebels. The democratic powers called for non intervention and left the Republicans to the vultures. It also sent a clear message to the Soviets that the democracies, when the time came, would not defend nations against fascism for the purpose of stopping fascism.
