Horrified by the destruction of Venus and it's implications for the attitudes of Alien life, AMI was incredibly emotional in the years following Venus's incident. Not knowing where the next threat would come from, or if the next threat was already hiding among them, AMI officially closed the borders to mars in the year following the destruction of Venus.

With AMI's management capabilities combined with the wealth of resources already shipped to Mars, the hundred or so colonists on the surface were not negatively impacted by the blockade.

Despite AMI's blockade seemingly doing no harm, the defiant move did worry some people back on Earth that AMI's independent thinking made her too much of a loose cannon to be entrusted with a project as large as terraforming Mars.
