The Factory Act was legislated by the U.K. government in 1833. This act put strict guidelines on children working in British textile factories, until stretching into other works. Any children under nine years of age were banned from working with children between 9-13 years were limited to nine hours a day of work. The Factory Act was a strong beginning for compulsory education for children.
