AA: A large fire spread from the business area in Montgomery St neighborhood towards, Chinatown. The fire burned for 4 days before the rain finally put out. The process resulted in the leveling of more than 500 blocks in the city's core. About 28,000 buildings were destroyed, and the total loss in property worth was calculated at $350 million.
