The Occitanie region, SNCF and Alstom presented the first hybrid train in France, combining electricity and diesel, on June 14 at the Technicentre in Toulouse. It will be operated at the end of 2023 in the region to reduce the carbon footprint.

The regional train in the colors of Occitania, SNCF and Alstom advances its profiled red, gold and gray muzzle in zen silence, outside the brand new Technicentre at Raynal station in Toulouse this Wednesday morning, June 14. Very clever whoever could distinguish it from the 280 regionally owned trains operated by SNCF in Occitania.
It is however the first born of a new generation of trains aiming to reduce the carbon footprint of regional trains by 40% by 2030, according to Jean-Luc Gibelin, vice-president of the regional council in charge of mobility and transport, and Philippe Bru, SNCF Occitanie regional director.
