5 ottob 1968 anni - NICRA march through Derry

Descrizione:

Northern Ireland Civil Rights Association (NICRA) decided to march because they had a peaceful march in August 1968. 400 NICRA joined in on the march and was meant to be peaceful. Apprentice Boys (loyalist historical club) decided to hold a demonstration at the same time as the NICRA to create opposition. The Stormont Government banned both marches for a fear of violence, but the NICRA ignored this ban. The march was meant with violence from police and 30 people were injured. The polices tactics were broadcasted by the RTE television crew and the images were widely seen in homes abroad.
